Doug Melton

Mr. Melton was reared on a farm in south-central Missouri but has spent most of his life living in west-central and northwest Arkansas.

Melton received a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from Missouri State University, a Master of Science degree in Geology and Geophysics from the University of Missouri-Rolla, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville. He is a Registered Professional Engineer and Registered Professional Geologist.

Doug has spent most of his career in the oil and gas business but also has an extensive background in environmental engineering and geology as related to mineral extraction, water treatment and disposal, and forensic engineering. He has served as a Justice of the Peace for Sebastian County as well as on the Sebastian County Board of Equalization. He has sat on the Arkansas Pollution Control & Ecology Commission since 2017 and has served as a Legislative Aide to the Governor.

He is an avid hiker and climber and has summitted two of the World’s Seven Summits, 45 of the 50 State Highpoints as well as nearly 800 of the 1,978 named and ranked peaks, hills and mountains in Arkansas. In addition to hiking and climbing he is a kayaker, photographer and bicyclist.
