Scott Alsbrook, Vice Chair

Scott Alsbrook is an Instructor of GIS in the Fay W. Boozman College of Public Health at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences where he works to equip future public health practitioners and medical professionals with GIS skills to support their efforts to improve the health and well-being of individuals, families, and communities in Arkansas. Prior to joining the team at UAMS Scott served as the Senior GIS Analyst in the Informatics Section of the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH). Joining the ADH team amid the Covid-19 pandemic, Scott prioritized GIS efforts to support the agency’s response to the pandemic. The National States Geographic Information Council recognized Scott and his work by naming him the 2022 Geospatial Excellence Award recipient.
Prior to his position with ADH, Scott worked for the Arkansas National Guard as the GIS Manager for ten years and provided sales support in geospatial technologies across the south for five years.
In addition to his state government roles, Scott has enjoyed a 14-year position as a member of the Arkansas GIS Users Forum Executive Committee where he works to support GIS users across the state. He has held the positions of Chair and Vice-Chair, providing leadership and guidance to the committee. In 2013, the Forum recognized Scott with the Arkansas GIS Users Forum Distinguished Service Award.
He is a proud graduate of the University of Central Arkansas (2005, BS; 2023, MS) and is pursuing a PhD in Environmental Health Sciences from UAMS. An avid outdoorsman, Scott enjoys spending time with his family and friends pursuing many of the outdoor activities the Natural State has to offer.
