ACOM AEDC FIELD ENGINEER

The Arkansas Science and Technology Authority (ASTA) Field Engineer is responsible for promoting and executing the delivery of business transformational services to clients of Arkansas Manufacturing Solutions (AMS), a national Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) center and program of the Arkansas Science and Technology Authority. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency policy.

Typical Functions:

Assesses manufacturers condition and performance to identify its competitive position relative to peer firms. Identifies areas of concerns and potential improvements that will advance the firms competitive position. Develops technical, management, or training projects in response to customer needs. Delivers technical assistance services to customers directly or manages the acquisition and deployment of other resources in response to the customer needs. Manages projects and completes project reporting according to established procedures and requirements. Leads, coaches, and mentors the client firms development of a vision or strategy. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Knowledge of project management. Knowledge of a broad range of business processes (e.g., strategic planning, strategic marketing, financial analysis, manufacturing process, etc.). Ability to communicate orally and in writing and present information to top management of client companies and professional groups. Ability to interact with clients executive management. Ability to use analytical, numerical, and reasoning skills to identify and understand manufacturers needs. Ability to manage multiple projects for a variety of manufacturing clients with multiple deadlines.

Minimum Qualifications:

The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field; plus eight years of experience in manufacturing management or related area. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
