ADH APB ADMINISTRATIVE DIRECTOR

The Arkansas Psychology Board Administrative Director is responsible for directing, overseeing, and monitoring the administration of the Psychology Board. This position is governed by state and federal law and agency policy.

Typical Functions:

Supervises a small support staff by interviewing, hiring, training, instructing, assisting, evaluating performance, and terminating personnel. Coordinates the agency’s policies, objectives, and programs for the delivery of psychological services. Serves as the agency’s fiscal officer by preparing and implementing annual operations plans, annual budgets, and fiscal year end reporting; approves expenditures; monitors and ensures agency fiscal accountability; approves the purchase of services and commodities. Assists with legislative audits of the agency. Serves as the Board’s liaison for determining and recommending staff, contract bids, and material and equipment needs. Develops and recommends new and revised legislation, policies, and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Knowledge of supervisory practices and procedures. Knowledge of state budgetary, accounting, human resources, and purchasing procedures. Knowledge of the purpose and functions of the Psychology Board. Ability to interpret and apply the provisions of laws, rules, and policies related to the operations of the Psychology Board. Ability to analyze budgetary and financial information and prepare reports. Ability to assign and direct the work of others. Ability to communicate orally and in writing.

Minimum Qualifications:

The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in finance, business administration, public information or related field; plus one year of experience in an administrative management field, including one year in a supervisory capacity.
