AEDC ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF FINANCE
The Arkansas Economic Development Commission (AEDC) Assistant Director of Finance
Is responsible for helping knowledge-based companies find early-stage financing for
product and business development. This position is governed by state and federal laws
and agency policy.

Typical Functions:
Ensures proper management of funds invested in financial institutions.
Supervises, coordinates, and evaluates the activities of the Finance Program Manager.
Creates deal flow through programs of the Science and Technical Division and other
investment tools.
Manages the Seed Capital Investment Program and the Science and Technical
Division’s investment portfolio.
Evaluates and recommends enterprise requests for research and development tax
incentives.
Develops risk capital pools to support entrepreneurship development.
Reviews, evaluates and recommends investments to the Investment Committee of the
Board of Directors.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices.
Knowledge of policies and procedures.
Knowledge of state budgetary, human resources, and purchasing procedures.
Knowledge of investment principles and practices.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions and
procedure manuals.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business manuals, technical procedures, and
governmental regulations.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific and technical journals, financial reports,
and legal documents.
Minimum Qualifications:
The formal education equivalent of a master’s degree in finance or a related field; plus five
years of experience in financial analysis, including two years in a managerial or supervisory capacity.
