DHS BEHAV HLTH GENERAL PHYSICIAN
The Department of Human Services (DHS) / Division of Behavioral Health Services (DBHS) General Physician is responsible for diagnosing illnesses and prescribing and administering treatment for people suffering from mental disease. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency policy.

Typical Functions:
Prescribes, directs, and administers psychotherapeutic treatments or medications to treat mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
Knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human psychological and emotional diseases.
Minimum Qualifications:
The formal education equivalent of medical degree approved by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association and successful completion of the internship or resident postgraduate requirements; plus six years of progressively more responsible experience in the behavioral health medical field, including three years in a professional managerial capacity.
Required Certificates:
Must be licensed as a physician by the State Medical Board in accordance with Ark. Code Ann. §17-95-401 et al.
