FARM MAINTENANCE MECHANIC
The Farm Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance and repair of farm equipment. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency policy.

Special Job Requirements:
Typical Functions:
Repairs equipment such as tractors, trucks, combines, and lawn mowers by rebuilding
motors and transmissions, performing engine tune ups, and replacing parts such as water
pumps, generators, and ignition units.
Overhauls irrigation pumps.
Replaces or adjusts brakes and clutches.
Welds broken farm machinery as needed.
Changes oil and filters in trucks, tractors, and lawn mowers.
Maintains parts and supplies and orders new quantities as necessary.
Performs general farm work such as plowing, spraying crops, and laying irrigation
pipelines.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
Knowledge of the maintenance and repair of farm equipment.
Knowledge of farm equipment operations.
Ability to determine problems and solutions concerning farm equipment malfunctions.
Ability to perform major repairs on farm equipment.
Skill in the use of repair tools and equipment.
Minimum Qualifications:
The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma; plus four years of experience in
the maintenance and repair of farm equipment or a related field.
