HEARING OFFICER
The Hearing Officer works is responsible for conducting disciplinary hearings. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Typical Functions:
Investigates disciplinary appeals, interviews complainants, and reports findings on investigation. Conducts disciplinary hearings, deliberates, and determines judgment. Maintains grievance files and receives and prepares appeals for hearing. Provides training on disciplinary hearing procedures. Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
Knowledge of federal and state laws, rules, and regulations. Knowledge of disciplinary hearing processes and procedures. Knowledge of investigative practices and procedures. Knowledge of computer operating software systems. Ability to research, interpret, and apply due process policies and procedures. Ability to communicate in oral and in written form. Ability to evaluate information and prepare written or verbal reports. Ability to investigate and process grievances and appeals.
Minimum Qualifications:
The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field; plus one year of experience in a related field. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
